Dr. Michal Michalski is the Chief Executive Officer of Naxxar Energy Group. He holds a Doctorate in Economics and brings more than 29 years of international leadership experience, including nearly two decades in executive and C-suite roles across the renewable energy, utilities, telecommunications, automotive, oil & gas and venture capital sectors.
Throughout his career, Dr. Michalski has built a reputation for transforming businesses, scaling organizations and delivering sustained growth in highly regulated and competitive markets. His experience spans corporate strategy, operational leadership, capital markets, renewable energy development, mergers and acquisitions, and international business expansion.
Prior to joining Naxxar, Dr. Michalski served as Executive Vice President for Central and Southern Europe at OX2, one of Europe’s leading renewable energy developers. In this role, he was responsible for driving the company’s growth strategy across Poland, Italy and Romania, supporting the expansion of one of Europe’s largest onshore wind development platforms.
Before joining OX2, Dr. Michalski spent twelve years at Polenergia S.A., Poland’s leading privately owned integrated energy utility listed on the Warsaw Stock Exchange. During this period, he held several senior executive positions before joining the Management Board in 2016 and subsequently being appointed Chief Executive Officer following a successful corporate reorganization.
As CEO, he led one of the most significant growth periods in the company’s history. Under his leadership, Polenergia formed a landmark joint venture with Equinor to develop, build and operate up to 3 GW of offshore wind capacity in Poland, positioning the company as one of the country’s leading participants in offshore renewable energy.
During his five-year tenure as Chief Executive Officer, Polenergia achieved exceptional operational and financial growth. The company doubled its operating and construction asset base, expanded its renewable energy development pipeline by almost five times, diversified its route-to-market strategy across multiple commercial channels, and successfully entered new international markets.
Dr. Michalski also played a key role in strengthening Polenergia’s capital base by attracting Brookfield Asset Management as the company’s second-largest shareholder and successfully raising €400 million in new equity capitalto support its long-term growth strategy.
The impact of this leadership is reflected in the company’s performance during his tenure:
- Market capitalization increased from €230 million to €1.35 billion
- EBITDA grew from €44 million to €127 million
- Net profit increased from €8 million to €64 million
- Employee headcount expanded from 195 to more than 900 professionals
