Shane Woodroffe is an Advisory Board Member of Naxxar Energy Group. He is an accomplished infrastructure finance and investment executive with more than 33 years of international experience spanning private equity, project finance, renewable energy, infrastructure investment and corporate advisory. Throughout his career, he has successfully combined engineering expertise with financial leadership, providing strategic guidance across the development, financing and governance of large-scale infrastructure projects.
Recognized for his expertise in renewable energy finance, Shane has extensive experience originating and securing debt financing, negotiating complex financing and security agreements, and overseeing investment decisions through General Partner and Investment Committee roles. His experience also extends to international investor-state arbitration and third-party litigation funding, providing a unique perspective on managing commercial risk within complex international investment environments.
Shane began his professional career as a civil engineer, initially joining Maunsell & Partners before progressing to engineering roles with Mott MacDonald and Arup. Working on major infrastructure projects, he developed a strong technical foundation before transitioning into the renewable energy sector, where he applied his engineering expertise to project finance and investment advisory. His career subsequently evolved from lender’s engineering and financial advisory into debt origination, underwriting and private equity investment, allowing him to develop a comprehensive understanding of renewable infrastructure from both technical and financial perspectives.
Over the course of his career, Shane has held senior executive and C-level leadership positions across infrastructure investment, renewable energy development and private equity. He has consistently demonstrated the ability to align technical due diligence, commercial structuring and investment strategy, supporting organizations in delivering sustainable growth while maintaining disciplined risk management and sound governance.
His multidisciplinary background enables him to bridge the gap between engineering, finance and investment decision-making, providing valuable insight into the successful development and financing of renewable energy infrastructure across international markets.
Shane holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering from Monash University, an MBA from ESCP Business School, and a Master’s Degree in International Financial Law from the University of Sussex, reflecting the unique combination of technical, commercial and legal expertise that has characterized his career.
As a member of Naxxar’s Advisory Board, Shane provides strategic guidance on project finance, infrastructure investment, capital structuring, governance and renewable energy development, supporting the company’s long-term objective of building a leading independent renewable energy platform across Europe.
